THIS IS TO BE TOLD ONCE SIX DOMAINS HAVE BEEN VISITED
The scene opens early one morning with a phone call. (player) answers, and it is Nash. He cheerily asks for your group to come see King Akarui at your earliest convenience, as there is an urgent matter he wishes to speak with you about.
-----
Upon arriving, you see a perky Nash flagging you down to his desk. "There is our new town heroes! King Akarui is waiting for you, I just need to buzz you in." He does just that, hitting his intercom button and announcing your arrival. A moment later, you see King Akarui's doors burst open, an angry stout Doberman marching out, followed by a Panther man in Thunder Force attire.
You recognize Third Commander Harken, but the other one...
(IF THEY VISITED THE WEAPONS STORE)
THE stout Doberman is Jerras, owner of the Weapons store.
He quickly turns to Harken, growling lowly. "That son of a bitch tried to lowball me on that deal and you know it..."
Harken maintains his composure, removing his sunglasses and revealing his deep brown soulful panther eyes, giving Jerras a look of understanding. "Jerras, you have to understand, he is not made of coin. He has only so much to spare for this kind of thing. Not to mention the morality issue--"
Jerras groans in annoyance, rolling his eyes. "Dont give me that crap Harken, the man wears gold draperies like some... what do they call them out there, Arabian princesses?" He puts his hands around his muzzle and yells muffledly in frustration, then takes a deep breath, sighing a bit. "I refuse to be taken advantage of. This could have been the deal of a lifetime for me. Either way, I owe you one for talking him up to where it landed, so... just... call it a future favor."
Harken extends his hand toward Jerras with a stern look in his eye. "Friends don't hold debts over each other, you know that. But... you spot me for lunch and we will call it even." Jerras smirks a little and accepts the handshake, getting ready to turn and leave when he spots your group.
"Hey wait a sec, I recognize you... aren't you the latest batch of newbies turned heroes?"
*IF THEY CONFIRM*
"Well this day just became better. Name's Jerras, I own the weapons store in the Business District. If you're ever looking for something bigger and better, look me up." He then slips you a business card with black lettering that mirrors everything he just told you, before heading out the door and looking significantly happier.
Harken steps toward your group. "I understand you have a meeting with the King? I'll be attending alongside you."
*ASK ABOUT JERRAS*
"He's pissed because he came here to make a deal to outfit the Thunder Force with weapons. Problem is, King Akarui lowballed him when he realized Jerras just resells weapons pawned off to him, sometimes FROM the Thunder Force raids of the Marauders' possessions. I vouched for Jerras to get the profit up enough to make it financially beneficial to him."
*IF THEY AGREE WITH JERRAS*
"Like I was telling him, the bigger issue was moreso the morality argument King Akarui made. It's one thing to buy an arsenal of weapons fresh from a supplier. It's another to take used ones acquired from Marauders and put them in the hands of the Thunder Force. It's unfortunate, but... it is a legitimate concern."
"In any case, we have a meeting to attend. Shall we?" Harken will escort you to the meeting this time, holding open the door for all of you, then following you in and pulling it shut. Akarui will be closing the door on a nearby file cabinet, turning to your group with a smile on his beak. "Welcome back, heroes! And thank you for coming to see me so soon."
*WHAT IS THIS ABOUT*
He will sit behind his desk again, holding up two digits. "Well actually this is a dual purpose meeting. Firstly, I wanted to see how you were all faring so far. Normally after the welcoming in, I would just leave you to your own devices, but unlike the others that came the last few times, you've been more... 'active' in public."
*AFTER THEIR RETORT*
"Well keep up the good work, I appreciate you dealing with those Marauders so efficiently. And cleanly, according to Harken here. The expense to repairing all their property damage was REALLY starting to hurt, so now our budget is starting to normalize again."
"Which brings me to our second and, admittedly, more distressing topic. We think there may be a mole in the Thunder Force."
*AFTER THEY COMMENT*
Harken steps up. "We've noticed some unusual things happening within our organization for some time, long before you arrived. Calls coming in and sending us to the wrong locations, reports having their information fudged, even evidence disappearing entirely from our inventory. It's happening too consistently to be a coincidence."
Akarui will chime back in. "Which is where your group comes in."
-----
IF THEY APPLIED
"I understand you have recently applied to join the Thunder Force. I have your application paperwork in a file on hand, and I'm willing to approve it immediately. But I need to know that, even with the knowledge of a corrupt agent somewhere in this, you are still interested in making a difference."
*IF THEY HAVENT APPLIED YET*
"The Thunder Force has open tryouts coming up soon to join their ranks. It would be a great disservice of me to not forewarn you of this, provided any of you were interested in applying to join their ranks."
-----
*IF THEY WANT TO JOIN STILL*
"I admire your dedication. I will get your paperwork filed as soon as possible and we will likely see you on the field within the week."
*IF THEY DONT WANT TO JOIN*
"I completely understand. (I will have the paperwork removed from the active personnel file.) Despite this, I hope it will not dissuade you from doing what you've been doing up until now. You don't necessarily NEED to be Thunder Force to fight for what is right, afterall."
-----
*EITHER WAY*
"It should also be noted that this information is strictly confidential. Until now, the only ones who knew about the potential mole were myself and Harken. I only included your group because you've proven yourselves invaluable to Diadem. Thank you for your time, heroes. Harken will see you out." Harken will nod and open the door for you, leading you out the front door of the building.
(NOTICE ROLL) Nash is no longer at his desk, a small sign sitting on it saying "back in an hour" with a picture of a cheeseburger attached.
Once outside, Harken will turn to your group. "I will see you around, I'm sure." Harken will slide his sunglasses back on, the silver parts of his uniform suddenly glowing lightly with electric energy before he disappears from view, the only remnants being a scorchmark in the ground and the stench of ozone.
(NOTICE ROLL)
You spot Jerras in the distance, leaning on a nearby shady tree, and he is chatting with Striker of all people very casually, almost like old friends. Jerras hands Striker a bag of coin, then Striker steps out of view. Jerras sighs a little and heads out, mumbling under his breath a bit. |
